YouTube has rolled out new tools aimed at helping video creators optimize their content and better understand audience engagement.
Creators can now test and compare up to three different titles and thumbnails per video inside YouTube Studio. This feature builds on YouTube’s popular thumbnail testing tool, which has been used over 15 million times since 2023.
Unlike traditional A/B testing focused only on click-through rates, YouTube uses “Watch Time Share” as the key metric for titles, rewarding titles that keep viewers watching longer.
The test results automatically update to the winning title, helping creators refine video packaging with real data instead of guesswork.
Currently, the testing feature is desktop-only and does not support YouTube Shorts but will gradually roll out to more users later in 2025.
