Google has rolled out a new update to Google Search Console Insights, adding data from social media channels directly inside the report.
This upgrade helps website owners see how their social profiles perform in Google Search. However, the feature is still in limited release, and not all users can access it.
The update aims to give creators and marketers a clearer view of how social traffic contributes to their overall online presence.
1. What the New Social Channel Insights Show

Google says the new section allows users to track how their social channels appear and perform in Google Search. The report combines search data with social engagement signals.
Key Metrics Included:
- Total Reach: Clicks and impressions from Google Search to your social channels
- Top Content: Best-performing social pages
- Trending Content: Pages gaining or losing popularity
- Search Queries: Top and rising queries that lead users to your social profiles
- Audience Location: Countries where users click your social channels
- Additional Sources: Clicks from Image Search, Video Search, News, and Discover
Users can view these insights within the main Search Console interface once their channels are detected.

2. How Google Identifies and Adds Social Channels
Google said the system will automatically detect social channels linked to a website. Users will then see a prompt inside the Insights dashboard.
How the Process Works:
- Search Console scans the website
- The system identifies matching social channels
- A prompt appears in Insights
- Users confirm the social channels
- Insights begin displaying social performance data
Google stressed that this is only the first stage. Insights will work only for sites and channels detected automatically.
Because this feature is new, some users also reported delays in Search Console reporting. Google has not shared when the full rollout will complete.
