Tai Lopez SMMA Review 2026: Real Prices, Refunds and Risks

Searching for an honest Tai Lopez SMMA review before you hand over your card? Here is the short answer: the Social Media Marketing Agency program is a real video course, not an empty shell, but in 2026 it is hard to recommend. The main entry point is now a free “AI SMMA” webinar with no public price. Older SMMA order pages on tailopez.com still charge anywhere from $197 to $997, and one of them says “All sales are final.” Below we cover what is actually on sale today, what each offer costs, how refunds work, the SEC case against Tai Lopez, and cheaper ways to learn agency skills.

Tai Lopez SMMA Review: Quick Summary

  • What it is: Tai Lopez’s training on starting a social media marketing agency (SMMA): finding small-business clients, running their social media and ads, and charging a monthly retainer.
  • What is sold now: “AI SMMA”, a “done-for-you” AI social media marketing system that you reach through a free live webinar. SMMA 9.0 is still listed on his course page, but its link goes to smma.io, a domain that is now listed for sale on GoDaddy.
  • Price: no price on the AI SMMA pages. Older SMMA checkout pages still live on tailopez.com show $997 (or 4 payments of $299), and a “Spring Sale” page shows SMMA 2.0 for $197.
  • Refunds: the $197 page says all sales are final. The $997 page points to an “Action Based Refund Policy” that the Terms of Use page does not spell out.
  • Our rating: 2.5 out of 5. Real lessons, but an opaque price, a heavy upsell funnel and weak refund terms.

Offers, prices and policies checked on 29 Oct 2026 on tailopez.com: the homepage, the course overview, the AI SMMA training page, two SMMA order pages, the Help page and the Terms of Use.

What Is Tai Lopez SMMA and Who Is It For?

SMMA stands for social media marketing agency. Tai Lopez’s pitch is that you can start one from home: sign local businesses that have money but no time, run their Instagram, Facebook and other channels, and bill a monthly fee. The program has gone through several versions, from SMMA 2.0 to SMMA 9.0, which his course page describes as a 4-month course that ends with a Social Media Marketing Certification.

In 2026 the offer has been rebranded around AI. The AI SMMA page promises an “AI Automation 3-Step Framework”, pre-built AI scripts for Instagram DMs, chatbots and follow-ups, and a pricing model in which you charge clients “$3,000-$30,000 upfront + $2,000-$5,000 monthly”. Those are Tai Lopez’s marketing claims, not typical results. His own earnings disclaimer says testimonials are “exceptional, non-typical results” and not a guarantee you will earn the same.

It suits a beginner who wants a structured overview of client-service marketing and likes Tai Lopez’s teaching style. It is a poor fit if you need a clear price before you sign up, a firm refund promise, or hands-on sales and client-management coaching.

What Tai Lopez Sells Under the SMMA Name in 2026

The “All Of Tai Lopez’s Courses” page lists AISMMA first, with the line “How To Get Paid $2,000 – $25,000 Per Month To Run AI For Small Businesses”. Next to it are other money programs: Social Media Brand Accelerator, New 67 Steps, Viral Pages and AI Automation. SMMA 9.0 is still on the page, but clicking it lands on a GoDaddy page offering the smma.io domain for $9,988. So the standalone SMMA 9.0 site is gone, and the live funnel is AI SMMA.

To join the AI SMMA webinar, you pick one of the next three days and a time slot in Pacific Time. Then you enter your name, email, phone number, current annual income and liquid net worth, which is “cash in the bank”. The sign-up form also has you consent to recurring marketing by email, SMS and autodialed calls. Asking about income and net worth usually means a sales call for a higher-priced package follows the free training, so decide your budget before you register.

Tai Lopez SMMA Pricing in 2026

There is no single public price. These are the SMMA offers we could open on Tai Lopez’s own site today:

Offer (tailopez.com page)Price shownRefund wording on the page
AI SMMA free live trainingFree to register; program price not shownNot stated
Social Media Marketing Agency Program (order page)$997 single payment, or 4 payments of $299 ($1,196 total)Links to an “Action Based Refund Policy”
“Spring Sale” mix and match (order page)SMMA 2.0 for $197, or 4 programs for $497“All sales are final. This product is not eligible for a refund.”
SMMA 9.0 (course page listing)No price; link now goes to a for-sale domainNot available

Earlier versions of this review said SMMA cost $997 “normally” and $697 with a discount, and that “SMMA 3.0” cost $49. We could not find a $697 or $49 SMMA offer on tailopez.com today, so we removed those numbers. The $997 and $197 order pages above are still live, but which one you are shown depends on the funnel you came through. Get the exact price, what is included and the refund terms in writing before you pay.

Refunds, Cancellations and Support

Tai Lopez’s Help page says refunds are requested by emailing support@tailopez.com, and that a refund takes 2 to 30 days to reach your bank. It links to a “Cancellation and Refund Policy” in the Terms of Use. That page only gives a 7-day refund window for “hard goods” such as books. It does not describe a money-back guarantee for digital courses. Some review sites mention a 30-day guarantee for SMMA 9.0, but we could not confirm it on Tai Lopez’s own pages, so do not count on it.

Watch out for subscriptions too. The Terms say a free trial renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, and monthly programs need at least 10 days’ notice by email. Support is also available by phone at 1-800-604-2587. The business behind the site is Website Monetization, LLC in Reno, Nevada.

What You Learn in the SMMA Course

Across its versions, the SMMA curriculum covers four jobs: setting up the business (name, legal entity, mindset), learning paid and organic social media marketing, finding and pitching clients, and delivering the service with templates, automation and a small team. The AI SMMA pitch adds plug-and-play AI automations for Instagram DMs, chatbots and lead follow-ups, and targeting “20 million+ businesses that have money but no time.”

What the program does well is give a complete beginner a map of how a small agency makes money. Independent reviewers point to the same gaps that older students did: thin training on sales calls and client management, and a constant push toward the next upsell. Plan to learn ad platforms like Meta and Google from their own free training, because those tools change faster than any course.

Is Tai Lopez SMMA a Scam or Legit?

The SMMA course itself is a real product: you get video training, templates and community access. “Legit” is not the same as “good value”, though, and there is wider context you should know. In September 2025 the US Securities and Exchange Commission charged Tai Lopez, his business partner Alex Mehr and an executive of their company Retail Ecommerce Ventures (REV). According to the SEC litigation release, they raised about $112 million from investors in brands such as RadioShack and Pier 1 through fraudulent offerings, and about $16.1 million was allegedly misused for personal use.

The case is about REV’s investor offerings, not the SMMA course, and the claims are allegations that have not been proven in court. Court filings from September 2026 say the parties have reached an agreement that still needs approval from the SEC commissioners, with the next status report due on 10 November 2026. For a course buyer, the practical takeaway is simple: judge each offer on its written price and refund terms, not on the income stories.

Tai Lopez SMMA FAQs

There is no single public price. The AI SMMA webinar is free and shows no program price. Older SMMA order pages on tailopez.com still show $997 (or 4 payments of $299), and a sale page lists SMMA 2.0 for $197.

Not one we could confirm. The $197 sale page says all sales are final and not eligible for a refund, and the $997 page links to an u0022Action Based Refund Policyu0022 that the Terms of Use do not spell out. Refund requests go to support@tailopez.com.

SMMA 9.0 is still listed on Tai Lopez's course page, but its link points to smma.io, which is now a domain for sale on GoDaddy. The live offer is AI SMMA, sold through a free training webinar.

SMMA was a course on running clients' social media and ads. AI SMMA repackages it as a u0022done-for-youu0022 AI system with pre-built automations for Instagram DMs, chatbots and follow-ups, and suggests charging $3,000 to $30,000 upfront plus $2,000 to $5,000 a month.

Yes. The SEC charged Tai Lopez, Alex Mehr and REV's COO in September 2025 over about $112 million raised for REV retail brands. The claims are allegations. Filings from September 2026 say a settlement is awaiting SEC commissioner approval. The case does not involve the SMMA course.

Email support@tailopez.com or call 1-800-604-2587. The Terms ask for at least 10 days' notice to cancel a monthly program, and at least 24 hours before a free trial ends. Refunds that are approved take 2 to 30 days to reach your bank.

Verdict: Is Tai Lopez SMMA Worth It in 2026?

Tai Lopez SMMA can teach a beginner how a small social media agency works, and the free AI SMMA webinar costs you nothing but your contact details. It is hard to recommend paying for, though. The price changes by funnel, one live order page says all sales are final, the SMMA 9.0 site is gone, and the founder is settling an SEC fraud case. Watch the free training if you are curious, ask for the price and refund terms in writing, and compare it with a cheaper course with a clear price before you spend $197 to $997.
